Tired of staring at Brick Walls? Time to Melt Your Mortar!

Registration opens soon for a brand new interactive online course, designed to help you solve complex research problems.

Q: Who should take this course?

Melt Your Mortar is designed for more experienced genealogists – perhaps at the intermediate level. When you find a brick wall blocking your progress, it is often helpful to get other perspectives and, perhaps, other research options that you might not be aware even exist. Here we will explore these options (as many as time will allow). Because this is designed to “melt the mortar” in those brick walls, a genealogy problem (a wall that is yet to crumble) should be brought to this experience with you and, over the course of the four weeks, we will try different demolition tools to get you past the blockade.

Q: So, how does this work?

A: First, pick out one of the brick walls in your research. You’ll work on this problem during the entire course.

Each Saturday morning of the course, you’ll have access to a new one-hour video, reference materials, and a homework assignment.  Watch the video at your convenience, as often as you want to! You can download the handouts to keep forever, and you have access to all the videos for 3 months.

Q: When is the homework due?

A: The homework is optional, so there’s no due date.  However, to get the most out of the course, you should start the homework before the weekly discussion session.

Q: Discussion session? How does that work?

A: Each Friday evening of the course, we’ll meet up on Zoom to talk about the video and how your week is going.  This is the time to ask questions about the homework, specific challenges you’re having with your items, brainstorm with your classmates, and pick up some more ideas. You’ll also be able to ask questions about the next video.

Q: What if I can’t attend one of the discussion sessions?

A: That’s not a problem!  Email your questions ahead of time so we can cover them. The video from the discussion session will be posted with the other course materials for you to watch.

Q: How do I get signed up?

A: First, get on the interest list here so you’ll get the best pricing. Registration opens over Thanksgiving Weekend!

Q: I know someone who needs this course! Can I buy it as a gift?

A: Absolutely! After purchasing the course, email me at theskeletonwhisperer@gmail.com and tell me the name and email address of the recipient.  You’ll get a PDF gift certificate to present to them, and they will be added to the class roster.  Don’t worry! I’ll make sure not to spoil the surprise!
